Along with my old Funcube Dongle (which is the cause of my return in the ham radio hobby) I had in a box a DAB USB receiver based on RTL2832U and E4000. Now this dongle is connected to a small box
and serving a web server http://virtualradar.zapto.org/VirtualRadar/.
Software in use:
– RTL1090 Beta 3 by Jetvision.de
– adbsScope 2.6 f3 by sprut
– Virtual Radar Server V220.127.116.114 by Andrew Whewell
– Noxon RTL-SDR connected directly to a Diamond Discona antenna, the dongle is in the antenna support.
The antenna is on top of 6 meters pole. 10 meters of USB cable, with two USB Signal amplifiers are feeding the computer system.
UPDATE: The server is feeding FlightRadar24.
The server is connected to the internet at the following address: http://virtualradar.zapto.org/VirtualRadar/
Feel free to visit, there is a 15 minutes timeout if no actions are taken during the visit, everything can be customized, reports are available to everybody, the only block are the route which cannot be submitted.
Coverage is most of the Belgium, north of the Channel, north-west of Paris.
FEEDBACK ARE VERY WELCOME!
I’m moving to W4 for a while. I will be active on DSTAR using W4/ON8CB call sign and when possible via HF (mobile/portable setup) using W4/OT1P and W4/IZ7ZAK.
I will try to post some status updates here and on QRZ.
Most probably I will printout some QSL with these calls.
I’m busy, I’m really busy.
Some changes at work are taking almost all my time and this is really disappointing.
I’m spending most of my life travelling and, to be honest, at the beginning it was amazing but now starts to be a little bit too much.
I spent the last 6 months going from Portugal to the United States, from Estonia to Greece, from Belgium to Kosovo… now I have in the calendar Turkey, Spain and France.
I removed some of my antenna system and shut down the weather station, including the original website which was used to host the statistic and the real time weather forecasts.
This way is going to kill my social life and myself but it’s my job and I will do it with professionalism.
Trip to the States, as usual, as every year… Trip to San Diego, as usual as every year… Visit at the Ham Radio Outlet, as usual, as every year….I spent another huge amount of money, as usual and as every year.
This year I bought a Cushcraft R9, great antenna, perfect replacement for my Cushcraft R8, adding the 80m band and some extra changes compare to it, great deal… but when I received it, I realized that I have no space for such antenna, so I sold it…
I should be curious on how it performs but honestly I’m not really missing it.
Crazy title, I agree…
I was looking for a cheap flight to somewhere south of Europe and I found a Ryanair ticket for 14 Euro to Bari, Italy (Zone 7)… Wednesday to Wednesday.
The period was a perfect one, in fact just 250 clicks north from Bari an Ham Radio Fest was taking place during the weekend.
So I booked the flight, filled …
