New hosting!

New hosting!

I just changed my hosting and domain maintainer from Hosteur (aka Asturian Networks) to FranceDNS because 35 Euro are not worth to be harassed by a disrespectful hosting provider. I lost 35 Euro and 5 years of a .BE domain registration with this move but the relief I’m enjoying is priceless.
This website was hosted by that Swiss/French platform maintained by unprofessional people with absolutely no respect of their customers. I cannot accept the lack of technical knowledge and the arrogance, but most s when they think you must receive their spam just because you are their customer. Yes, they were NOT able (willing?) to stop sending me spam messages for their product. They were providing a “unsubscribe” link which was not working (unprofessional!) and nobody, despite the several email I sent them was able (willing?) to stop it. The ridiculous answers on a ticket are the bright light of the lack of technical expertise in that infrastructure.

Shame on you Hosteur, Shame on you Asturian Networks, disrespecting your customers is the worst marketing choice!!!

Spammers

It’s incredible the amount of attempts to post bullshits on my WordPress based portal.
At the beginning I was deleting manually all the messages left by bots and moderated by WordPress, then Akismet arrived and finally I’ve introduced the Captcha for human verification.

Statistics for today:

  • Akismet has protected your site from 569 spam comments already.
  • 347 spam comments have been automatically discarded by Conditional CAPTCHA.
Kosovo Cellphone Security Warning

Kosovo Cellphone Security Warning

  • Premise: I’ve been in Kosovo in 2008 and spent in Pristina some time; I NEVER flight with AirPristina or Air Pristina or any subsidiary company of them.
  • Fact: Since I left for good the Balkan area, on my cellphone I start to receive SMS with flight proposals from Air Pristina. All the messages are sent using a U.K. number.
  • Deduction: Kosovo Mobile Phone Companies are collecting and selling YOUR phone number to Air Pristina, which is using it to send SMS spam about their company.
There is no such way to prevent this, as source phone number is changing every time and there is NO blacklist for cellphones.
Origin is U.K. so it’s impossible to block an entire country especially if you have connections over there, neither is possible to block the source by keywords as there is no such feature on the cellphone.
  • Issues: The problem itself isn’t a big issue, it is not causing any disruption of the service but thinking a place like the U.S. where you pay (while in roaming) for any SMS received, these messages are causing a loss of money to me.
  • Solution: If you plan to travel to Kosovo, consider to carry with you a single-use SIM card for your stay in that country. Legally there is nothing you can do, as Kosovo is a “non-country” but for some countries which had recognized their independence.
